Benefits of the Thigh Lift Procedure

By: Daniel Beasley

While no one should go into cosmetic surgery frivolously, the benefits of a thigh lift may appeal to those who have had a large weight loss, or have sagging skin from aging. Even those of normal weight who are simply fed up with their looks can give it a try, but you will need to consult a reputable surgeon who will ask specific questions about your motivation and what you expect the benefits of a thigh lift to be.

The Three Types of Thigh Lifts

The thigh lift (called simply “thighplasty”) comes in three forms. The inner thigh surgery consists of a wedge-shaped incision at the very top of the thigh from which the surgeon removes excess skin and sometimes fat and other tissue as well. The skin that is left is brought together and sewn up, giving the thigh a tighter, trimmer look. Those of normal weight who have dieted and exercised faithfully, but have not been able to get rid of excess fat in this area are good candidates for this type of thigh lift.

The bilateral thigh lift, as the name implies, tightens the skin on two sides by cutting away the skin around an incision just under the buttocks and drawing it back.

The most complicated thigh surgery is the median thigh lift. The incision goes from the groin to the line under the buttock. Again, the skin and fat around the site are cut out and the skin stretched fit together. This surgery is meant primarily to tighten loose skin, although it does remove a certain amount of fat as well.

Benefits of the Procedure

The benefits of a thigh lift are a slimmer, tauter look to the flesh and skin, the elimination of loose and sagging skin and renewed self-confidence that comes from knowing you look good.
